S (Saad)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Suad, I swear by the Quran, full of admonition. 1 Nay, but the unbelievers are steeped in arrogance and stubborn defiance. 2 How many a generation We destroyed before them, and they called, but time was none to escape. 3 They marvel now that, from among themselves, a warner has come to them. The unbelievers say: 'This is a lying sorcerer. 4 What, has he made the gods One God? This is indeed a marvellous thing.' 5 A group of the pagans walked out of a meeting with the Prophet and told the others, "Let us walk away. Be steadfast in the worship of your gods. This man wants to dominate you. 6 We never heard of this in the former faith; this is nothing but a forgery: 7 To him of all of us has the Reminder been sent down?" They are still in doubt about My admonition; but they have not tasted My punishment yet! 8 Or, have they the treasuries of the Mercy of your Lord, the Almighty, the Giving? 9 Or is the kingdom of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them theirs? Then let them ascend by ropes! 10 A defeated host are (all) the factions that are there. 11 Before them the people of Noah denied the truth, as did the 'Ad and Pharaoh of the Stakes, 12 And (the tribe of) Thamud, and the folk of Lot, and the dwellers in the wood: these were the factions. 13 There was not one of those that did not belie the Messengers. Therefore, My retribution was realized. 14
