Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 Many a face will be disgraced on that day. 2 troubled and tired as a result of their deeds in the past. 3 (Yet) Going into the blazing fire. 4 They will be given drink from a boiling spring. 5 No food will there be for them but a poisonous thorny plant, 6 Which will neither fatten nor avail against hunger. 7 Many a face will be in serenity on that day. 8 Well-pleased because of their striving, 9 In the high empyrean, 10 where they will hear no idle talk. 11 Countless springs will flow therein, 12 and raised couches, 13 And goblets ready placed! 14 And cushions ranged 15 and carpets outspread. 16 What, do they not consider how the camel was created, 17 And how the heaven was raised up, 18 and how the mountains were firmly fixed? 19 And the earth, how it was spread out? 20 So, [O Prophet] exhort them: your task is only to exhort, 21 You are not a warden over them, 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 will be punished by God with the greatest punishment. 24 Truly, to Us is their return; 25 and verily, It is for Us to call them to account. 26
