A group of his people who disbelieved him and had called the Day of Judgment a lie and whom We had made prosperous in this life, said, "He is a mere mortal like you. He eats and drinks as you do. 33 If you were to obey a human being like yourselves, you will certainly be losers. 34 Does he promise you that when you die and have become dust and bones, that you will be brought forth again? 35 ۞ Away, away with that you are promised! 36 This is our only life. We live and will die but we will never be brought back to life again. 37 He is not but a man who has invented a lie about Allah, and we will not believe him." 38 The messenger said, "My Lord, help me, for they have rejected me." 39 He answered: "A short while, and they shall be repenting." 40 So they were rightly seized by a mighty blast; and We turned them into mouldy rubbish: A good riddance of the wicked people! 41 Then, after them, We created other generations. 42 no nation outstrips its term, nor do they put it back. 43 Then sent We Our Messengers successively; whenever its Messenger came to a nation they cried him lies, so We caused some of them to follow others, and We made them as but tales; so away with a people who do not believe! 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron, with Our Signs and authority manifest, 45 To Pharaoh and his nobles who behaved with arrogance, for they were a conceited lot, 46 They said, "Should we believe in two mere mortals who are like ourselves and whose people are our slaves?" 47 So they belied them, and they were among the destroyed. 48 And indeed We gave Musa (Moses) the Scripture, that they may be guided. 49 We made the son of Mary and his mother a sign, and gave them a refuge on a hillside where there was a hollow and a spring. 50
