Nay, by the Moon 32 and the night when it retreats 33 and the morning when it appears, 34 Verily it is one of the greatest woes. 35 A warning to mortals, 36 To him among you who wishes to go forward or remain behind. 37 Every soul is pledged to what it does, 38 Except those of the right hand 39 in Gardens they will question 40 of those who were lost in sin: 41 "What has brought you into the Fire of Hell ?" 42 They will answer: We were not of those who prayed 43 And we have not been feeding the poor. 44 we indulged in vain arguments along with those who indulged in them; 45 and the Day of Judgment we were wont to call a lie 46 till the certainty (death) overtook us' 47 Then the intercession of the intercessors shall not profit them. 48 What ails them, that they turn away from the Reminder, 49 like frightened donkeys 50 Fleeing from a lion! 51 Nay; every one of them desires that he may be given pages spread out; 52 No indeed; the truth is that they have no fear of the Hereafter. 53 No indeed; surely it is a Reminder; 54 So whosoever will (let him read it), and receive admonition (from it)! 55 And they will not receive admonition unless Allah wills; He (Allah) is the One, deserving that mankind should be afraid of, and should be dutiful to Him, and should not take any Ilah (God) along with Him, and He is the One Who forgives (sins). 56
