The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Indeed there has been a time for man, when even his name did not exist anywhere. 1 Lo! We create man from a drop of thickened fluid to test him; so We make him hearing, knowing. 2 Surely We have shown him the way: he may be thankful or unthankful. 3 [Now,] behold, for those who deny the truth, We have prepared chains, iron collars and a blazing fire, but 4 Indeed the virtuous will drink from a cup, containing a mixture of Kafoor. 5 A fountain from which the servants of Allah shall drink; they make it to flow a (goodly) flowing forth. 6 They fulfil their vows, and fear a day whose evil is upon the wing; 7 And they give food in spite of love for it to the needy, the orphan, and the captive, 8 Saying: we feed you only for the sake of Allah; we desire not from you any recompense or thanks. 9 "Verily, We fear from our Lord a Day, hard and distressful, that will make the faces look horrible (from extreme dislikeness to it)." 10 So Allah will protect them from the evil of that Day and give them radiance and happiness 11 And because they were patient and constant, He will reward them with a Garden and (garments of) silk. 12 There they will recline on elevated couches and will be subjected neither to the burning heat of the sun nor to bitter cold. 13 The shades of Paradise will bend over them, and its fruits will be brought within their easy reach; 14 They will be served with silver dishes and crystal clear goblets. 15 goblets bright as crystal but made of silver, filled to exact measure. 16 There are they watered with a cup whereof the mixture is of Zanjabil, 17 A spring there, called Salsabil. 18 ۞ They will be attended by youths who will not age -- when you see them you will think them to be like sprinkled pearls -- 19 When you see them, you see bliss, and a great Kingdom. 20 Upon them shall be garments of fine green silk and thick silk interwoven with gold, and they shall be adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord shall make them drink a pure drink. 21 Verily this is for you by way of recompense, and your endeavour hath been accepted. 22
