The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ Of what do they ask one another? 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 About which they cannot agree. 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 again, no indeed; soon will they come to know. 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 And the high hills bulwarks? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 and gave you repose in sleep, 9 And made the night as clothing 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have builded over you seven strong heavens. 12 And made [therein] a burning lamp 13 From the rain clouds We send waters pouring down in abundance, 14 so that We may bring forth thereby grain and a variety of plants, 15 And gardens of entwined growth. 16 Surely, the Day of Judgement has an appointed time. 17 On that day the trumpet will be sounded and you will come (to Us) in huge groups. 18 and heaven is opened, having gates, 19 And the mountains will have been removed away, and they will have become as mirage. 20 Surely, Hell lies in wait, 21 for the insolent a resort, 22 They will tarry therein for ages. 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 Taste therefore. We shall not increase you in aught but torment. 30
