He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ (The Prophet (Peace be upon him)) frowned and turned away, 1 Because there came to him the blind man, [interrupting]. 2 And what would make you know that he would purify himself, 3 or yet remember, and the Reminder profit him. 4 As for him who was indifferent, 5 To him you give attention. 6 And no blame is on you if he would not purify himself 7 but as for him who came unto thee full of eagerness 8 and in awe of God 9 Him thou neglectest! 10 No indeed; it is a Reminder 11 Therefore let whoso will, keep it in remembrance. 12 (It is) in Records held (greatly) in honour (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz). 13 most exalted and purified, 14 (Set down) by scribes 15 noble and purified. 16 May (the disbelieving) human being be condemned! What makes him disbelieve? 17 Of what substance God created him? 18 From a sperm-drop He created him and destined for him; 19 and then made the course of life easy for him, 20 Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him. 21 Then, when He will, He bringeth him again to life. 22 Nay, but (man) has not done what He commanded him. 23 So let man just consider his food: 24 That We pour forth water in abundance, 25 then We split the earth in fissures 26 Then We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 grapes, and fresh fodder, 28 And olive-trees and palm-trees 29 Orchards thick with trees, 30 And fruit and grass - 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 But when there comes the Deafening Blast 33 on that Day each person will flee from his brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 As well as his wife and children. 36 every man that day shall have business to suffice him. 37 Some faces on that Day shall be beaming with happiness, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news. 39 And some faces will on that Day with dust be covered, 40 and covered by darkness. 41 Those! they are the infidels, the ungodly. 42
