The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
78 verses, revealed in Medina after Thunder (Al-Ra'ad) before The Human (Al-Insan)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ The Compassionate. 1 It is He Who has taught the Qur'an. 2 He created man. 3 Has taught him the knowledge of the past and the future. 4 The sun and moon revolve to a computation; 5 And the herbs (or stars) and the trees both prostrate. 6 He raised the heaven on high and set the scale. 7 so that you should not transgress the measure. 8 but weigh things equitably and skimp not in the balance. 9 It is He Who has spread out the earth for (His) creatures: 10 with fruit thereon, and palm trees with sheathed clusters [of dates,] 11 and grains with their husk and fragrant plants. 12 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord, will ye twain belie? 13 He created man of a clay like the potter's, 14 And He created the jinn of a flame of fire. 15 Which favors of your Lord will you both belie? 16 He is Lord of the two easts and Lord of the two wests. 17 Which of the powers of your Lord will you twain you men and jinn then deny? 18 He has let forth the two seas, they meet together, 19 and yet there is a barrier between them which they may not overstep. 20 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? -- 21 From them come forth the pearl and the coral. 22 Which of the wonders of your Lord's power will you twain you men and jinn then deny? 23 And His are the Ships sailing smoothly through the seas, lofty as mountains: 24 So O men and jinns! Which favour of your Lord will you deny? 25
