Al-Balad
The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ Nay, I swear by this city - 1 and thou art a lodger in this land; 2 And the begetter and that which he begat, 3 that We have created the human being to face a great deal of hardship. 4 What, does he think none has power over him, 5 And he saith: I have destroyed vast wealth: 6 Does man think that no one saw him? 7 Have We not made for him a pair of eyes? 8 a tongue, and two lips, 9 and guided him on the two highways? 10 But he has made no effort to pass on the path that is steep. 11 and what shall teach thee what is the steep? 12 (It is) the freeing of a slave, 13 Or giving food in a day of hunger (famine), 14 An orphan, of kin, 15 Or to a Miskin (poor) afflicted with misery. 16 And to be of those who believe, and urge upon one another to persevere, and urge upon each other to be kind. 17 Those are the companions of the right. 18 But those who deny Our revelations are the people of the left hand: 19 The Fire will vault them over. 20
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
