The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Woe to the stinters who, 1 Who, when they take a measure from people, take in full. 2 But when they have to give by measure or weight to men, give less than due. 3 Do they not know that they are bound to be raised from the dead 4 unto a mighty day 5 a day when mankind shall stand before the Lord of all Being? 6 No indeed! Verily the deeds of the wicked are in the Record locked up in the prison-house! 7 Would that you knew what Sijin is!? 8 (There is) a Register (fully) inscribed. 9 Woe on that Day unto the beliers 10 Those who deny the Day of Recompense. 11 And none gives the lie to it but every exceeder of limits, sinful one 12 [and so,] whenever Our messages are conveyed to them, they but say: "Fables of ancient times!" 13 No indeed! The truth is that their hearts have become rusted on account of their evil deeds. 14 On the Day of Judgment, they will certainly be barred from the mercy of their Lord. 15 Then, verily they will indeed enter and taste the burning flame of Hell. 16 Then it will be said [to them], "This is what you used to deny." 17 Nay! Most surely the record of the righteous shall be in the Iliyin. 18 Ah, what will convey unto thee what 'Illiyin is! - 19 A record of good deeds written. 20 To which bear witness those nearest (to Allah, i.e. the angels). 21 Surely the pious shall be in bliss, 22 seated on couches and gazing around in wonder. 23 Thou wilt know in their faces the radiance of delight. 24 They will be given a drink of pure wine whereon the seal [of God] will have been set, 25 The seal thereof will be of musk. And to this end let the aspirers aspire 26 And admixture thereof will be Water of Tasnim: 27 A spring, from (the waters) whereof drink those Nearest to Allah. 28 The sinners had been laughing at the believers. 29 And winked at one another as they passed by them; 30 And when they went back to their people turned to make fun of them; 31 And when they saw them, they said: "They have indeed gone astray." 32 Yet they were not sent as watchers over them. 33 But this Day (the Day of Resurrection) those who believe will laugh at the disbelievers 34 as they (recline) upon their couches and gaze (around them). 35 Will not the infidels pay for what they had done? 36
