And recite to them the news of Abraham. 69 Behold, he said to his father and his people: "What worship ye?" 70 They replied: "We worship idols and are devoted to them." 71 He said: Do they hear you when you call? 72 or can they benefit or harm you?" 73 They replied, "But we found our fathers doing the same." 74 He said: See now that which ye worship, 75 You and your ancient sires. 76 Surely they are enemies to me, but not (so) the Lord of the worlds; 77 "Who created me, and it is He Who guides me; 78 He who gives me food and drink; 79 and when I fall ill, is the One who restores me to health, 80 And Who causeth me to die, then giveth me life (again), 81 and He who will, I hope, forgive me my faults on the Day of the Judgement. 82 My Lord! bestow on me wisdom and join me with the righteous. 83 And uphold my name with posterity, 84 Make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss 85 "And forgive my father - for, verily, he is among those who have gone astray 86 and disgrace me not on the Day when people will be raised to life, 87 the day when neither wealth nor sons shall profit 88 But only one who comes to Allah with a sound heart." 89 (On that Day) the Garden will be brought near to the God-fearing, 90 and Hell advanced for the perverse. 91 and they will be asked: "Where now is all that you were wont to worship 92 other than Allah? Do they help you or even help themselves' 93 Then they shall be pitched into it, they and the perverse 94 And the whole hosts of Iblis (Satan) together. 95 Disputing among themselves they will say: 96 'By Allah, we were certainly in clear error, 97 When we equalled you with the Lord of the worlds. 98 And none led us astray except the culprits. 99 Now we have no intercessors, 100 nor any loving friend. 101 Would that we might return again, and be among the believers' 102 Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 103 And indeed your Lord – only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 104
