Al-Shams
The Sun (Al-Shams)
15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
CONSIDER the sun and its radiant brightness, 1 and by the moon as it follows it; 2 By the Day as it shows up (the Sun's) glory; 3 By the Night as it conceals it; 4 The heavens and its architecture, 5 The earth and its spreading out, 6 And a soul and Him Who perfected it 7 And inspired it with the wickedness thereof and the piety thereof, 8 those who purify their souls will certainly have everlasting happiness 9 and truly lost is he who buries it [in darkness]. 10 The Thamud denied (the truth) in their perverseness 11 when the most wretched of them uprose, 12 So Allah's apostle said to them (Leave alone) Allah's she-camel, and (give) her (to) drink. 13 However, they rejected him and slew her. So their Lord completely destroyed them and their city for their sins. 14 And He does not fear its coming behind (to take vengeance). 15
God the Almighty always says the truth.
