The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
WHEN THE SUN is shrouded in darkness, 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 And when the mountains shall be made to pass away, 3 when the pregnant camels shall be neglected, 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 And when the seas shall become as blazing Fire or shall overflow; 6 When the souls are sorted out, (being joined, like with like); 7 And when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 for what sin she was killed, 9 When the ledgers are laid open, 10 And when the heaven has its covering removed, 11 And when hell is further enflamed. 12 And Paradise brought near, 13 then, each soul shall know what it has produced. 14 No! I swear by the slinkers, 15 That run their course (and) hide themselves, 16 And by the night as it departs; 17 by the dawn sighing, 18 Truly, this is the word brought by a noble messenger, 19 with strength endowed, secure with Him who in almightiness is enthroned 20 Obeyed (by the angels), trustworthy there (in the heavens). 21 Your companion is not possessed; 22 he indeed saw the message-bearer on the clear horizon; 23 Neither doth he withhold grudgingly a knowledge of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this the utterance of a devil worthy to be stoned. 25 Where then will you go? 26 This [message] is no less than a reminder to all mankind 27 for everyone of you who wishes to follow the Straight Way; 28 And ye will not, unless (it be) that Allah willeth, the Lord of Creation. 29
