The Moon (Al-Qamar)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
The Hour of Doom is drawing near and the moon is rent asunder. 1 (Regardless of any Signs these people see), they turn away and say: “This is an ongoing sorcery.” 2 And they belied, and they followed their lusts; and every affair cometh to a final goal. 3 Messages deterring them from evil had come to them, 4 Containing consummate wisdom; yet warnings were of no avail. 5 Therefore, turn away from them. On the Day when the Caller summons them to a terrible thing, 6 with down-cast eyes they shall go forth from their graves, as though they were scattered locusts. 7 Rushing towards the caller; the disbelievers will say, “This is a tough day.” 8 ۞ (Long) before them the nation of Noah belied. They belied Our worshiper saying: 'Mad' and he was reprimanded. 9 Noah prayed, "Lord, help me; I am defeated". 10 So We opened the gates of heaven, with water pouring forth. 11 And caused springs to gush out from the earth, so that the two waters met totalling a quantity that had been destined. 12 We carried him, (Noah), on a vessel built with boards fixed together with nails, 13 Moving forward under Our eyes: a requital for him who had been rejected. 14 And We have left this as a Sign (for all time): then is there any that will receive admonition? 15 How then were My chastisement and My warnings? 16 And We have indeed made the Qur’an easy to memorise, so is there one who would remember? 17 TO THE TRUTH gave the lie [the tribe of] Ad: and how severe was the suffering which I inflicted when My warnings were disregarded! 18 Behold, We let loose upon them a raging storm wind on a day of bitter misfortune: 19 plucking up men as if they were stumps of uprooted palm-trees. 20 How then were My chastisement and My warnings? 21 And We have indeed made the Qur’an easy to memorise, so is there one who would remember? 22
