He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because there came to him the blind man. 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 or receive some (Quranic) advice which would benefit him. 4 Yet you pay attention 5 to him thou attendest 6 although thou art not accountable for his failure to attain to purity; 7 But as for he who came to you striving [for knowledge] 8 And whereas he fears, 9 you ignore him. 10 Assuredly this is a reminder 11 and whosoever wills, shall remember it. 12 upon highly honored pages, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 noble and most virtuous. 16 Cursed be man! how ungrateful is he! 17 From what thing doth He create him? 18 From a drop of seed. He createth him and proportioneth him, 19 He makes his path easy for him. 20 Then He causes him to die, and puts him in his grave; 21 Then when He pleases, He will bring him back to life. 22 Certainly, he has not duly fulfilled His commands. 23 Let the human reflect on the food he eats, 24 That We pour forth water in abundance, 25 Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder, 26 Thereby produced grain in it. 27 and vines and edible plants, 28 And olives and date palms, 29 And dense gardens, 30 and fruits and pastures – 31 [As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock. 32 But when the deafening cry comes, 33 on that Day each person will flee from his brother, 34 his mother and his father, 35 As well as his wife and children. 36 on that Day every man among them will have enough concern of his own -- 37 Some faces on that day will be radiant, 38 Laughing and full of joy, 39 And faces on that Day! upon them shall be gloom. 40 Darkness will cover them, 41 These will be the faces of the sinful disbelievers. 42
