The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
THE LAST HOUR draws near, and the moon is split asunder! 1 Whenever they see a miracle, they turn away from it and say, "This is just a powerful magic". 2 And they call (it) a lie, and follow their low desires; and every affair has its appointed term. 3 There have already come to them Recitals wherein there is (enough) to check (them), 4 profound in wisdom, but all warnings have been of no avail: 5 So turn thou away from them. Upon the day when the Caller shall call unto a horrible thing, 6 with down-cast eyes they shall go forth from their graves, as though they were scattered locusts. 7 Racing ahead toward the Caller. The disbelievers will say, "This is a difficult Day." 8 ۞ Before them the people of Nuh rejected, so they rejected Our servant and called (him) mad, and he was driven away. 9 Then he invoked his Lord (saying): "I have been overcome, so help (me)!" 10 So We opened the gates of the sky with water pouring down in torrents, 11 And We caused the earth to gush forth with springs, so the waters met (and rose) to the extent decreed. 12 We carried him, (Noah), on a vessel built with boards fixed together with nails, 13 Sailing, before Our eyes, a reward for him who was denied. 14 And We left it for a sign. Is there any that will remember? 15 How (great) was then My punishment and My warning! 16 We have made the Koran easy to remember, is there any that will remember! 17 The people of `Ad rejected Our guidance. How terrible was My torment and the result (of their disregard) of My warning. 18 Behold, We let loose upon them a raging storm wind on a day of bitter misfortune: 19 Tearing men away as if they were the trunks of palm-trees torn up. 20 for, how severe is the suffering which I inflict when My warnings are disregarded! 21 We have made it easy to learn lessons from the Quran: is there anyone who would receive admonition? 22
