The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 there will be nought that could give the lie to its having come to pass, 2 (a calamitous Event) that shall turn things upside down: 3 When the earth is shaken 4 And the hills are ground to powder 5 Becoming dust scattered abroad, 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 So those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 8 And the People on the Left: and how miserable will be the People on the Left! 9 But the foremost shall be [they who in life were] the foremost [in faith and good works]: 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 They are in Gardens of peace. 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 And a few of later ages, 14 They (will be seated) on gold-encrusted couches, 15 reclining upon them, set face to face, 16 Youths of never-ending bloom will pass round to them 17 with goblets, and ewers, and cups filled with water from unsullied springs 18 Whereby there shall be neither headiness nor will they be inebriated. 19 along with fruits of their choice; 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 and fair maidens with large, lustrous eyes 22 Like unto hidden pearls, 23 Reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 only the words of peace and tranquillity. 26 And the fellows on the right hand; how be happy shall the fellows on the right hand be! 27 mid thornless lote-trees 28 And clustered plantains, 29 and extended shade, 30 And water everflowing. 31 And fruit in plenty, 32 undiminished and never denied 33 and upraised couches. 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 And made them virgins, 36 loving companions, matching in age, 37 For those on the right. 38
