He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because the blind man came unto him. 2 for how can you know that he might seek to purify himself, 3 or yet remember, and the Reminder profit him. 4 Now he who waxes indifferent, 5 You pay full attention, 6 Though it is not your concern if he should not grow (in fulness). 7 And to him who came to you eagerly 8 and fearfully, 9 you pay no heed to him. 10 These verses are a reminder 11 and whosoever wills, shall remember it. 12 upon pages high-honoured, 13 exalted, purified, 14 (Set down) by scribes 15 Noble and dutiful. 16 Perish man! how ungrateful he is! 17 Of what [stuff] has He created him? 18 From a drop of seed. He createth him and proportioneth him, 19 Then maketh the way easy for him, 20 then makes him to die, and buries him, 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will resurrect him (again). 22 Certainly, he has not duly fulfilled His commands. 23 Then let man look at his food, 24 How We poured down water in torrents, 25 Then We broke open the earth, splitting [it with sprouts], 26 And caused to grow within it grain 27 And grapes and clover, 28 And olive-trees and palm-trees 29 And gardens of dense shrubbery 30 and fruits and herbage, 31 [As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock. 32 Then, when there comes As-Sakhkhah (the Day of Resurrection's second blowing of Trumpet), 33 Man will fly from his brother, 34 And from his mother and father, 35 and his consort and his children; 36 Each man will have enough cares that day. 37 Some faces on that day will be radiant, 38 laughing, rejoicing at glad tidings. 39 Some faces on that Day shall be dust-ridden, 40 Blackness will cover them. 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
