The Night (Al-Layl)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the night when it enshrouds, 1 By the day when it appeareth in glory, 2 And by Him Who created male and female; 3 O men, you truly strive towards the most diverse ends! 4 So he who gives (in charity) and fears (Allah), 5 And testifieth to the Good, 6 We shall surely ease him to the Easing. 7 And for him who hoarded wealth and remained carefree, 8 and he belied the finest 9 We will facilitate for him the difficult end. 10 And what will his wealth benefit him when he goes down (in destruction). 11 Surely, in Our hands is guidance, 12 and to Us belongs the Hereafter as well as the present world -- 13 Therefore do I warn you of a Fire blazing fiercely; 14 None except the most wicked will enter it. 15 Who gives the lie (to the truth) and turns (his) back. 16 and from which the cautious shall be distanced. 17 even he who gives his wealth. to purify himself 18 They do not expect any reward 19 But only the desire to seek for the Countenance of their Lord Most High; 20 and before long he will be well satisfied. 21
