▼ 56 The Inevitable
Al-Waaqe'ah 2 of 3
A multitude of those (on the Right Hand) will be from the first generation (who embraced Islam). 39 and a multitude of the later people. 40 And the fellows on the left hand; how miserable shall the fellows on the left hand be! 41 They will find themselves in scorching wind and scalding water, 42 And the shade of black smoke, 43 neither cool nor refreshing. 44 They were endowed with good things 45 and would persist in heinous sinning, 46 It was they who said, "Shall we be resurrected after we die and have turned into dust and bones? 47 "(We) and our fathers of old?" 48 Say: "Indeed, the earlier and the later generations 49 "All will surely be gathered together for appointed Meeting of a known Day. 50 Then you went astray, you that belied, 51 Will be eating from trees of zaqqum 52 "Then you will fill your bellies therewith, 53 and will thereupon have to drink [many a draught] of burning despair 54 "So you will drink (that) like thirsty camels!" 55 This shall be their hospitality on the Day of Doom. 56 We have created you: why then do you not accept the truth? 57 Have you considered the seed you spill? 58 Did you create it or was it We who created it? 59 It was We who decreed death among you. We will not be surpassed 60 Had We so wished, nothing could have hindered Us from replacing you by others like yourselves, or transforming you into beings you know nothing about. 61 You have known the first growth; so why will you not remember? 62 Behold! that which ye sow. 63 Is it ye who foster it, or are We the Fosterer? 64 If We will We can make it like dry trampled hay, so you would keep crying out. 65 (Saying): "We are indeed Mughramun (i.e. ruined or lost the money without any profit, or punished by the loss of all that we spend for cultivation, etc.)! [See Tafsir Al-Qurtubi, Vol. 17, Page 219] 66 Aye! we are deprived! 67 Have you considered the water you drink? 68 Is it you that send it down from the clouds, or are We the senders? 69 If We willed, surely We would make it brackish. Wherefore give ye not thanks? 70 Have you considered the fire you kindle? 71 Did you produce the tree that serves as fuel or do We? 72 We have made it as a reminder and convenience for the needy. 73 So exalt the name of your Lord, the Most Great. 74

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
