The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun shall be folded up, 1 And when the stars shall fall; 2 And when the mountains are removed 3 The ten-month pregnant female camels are abandoned, 4 And when the wild beasts are herded together, 5 When the oceans surge and swell, 6 when the souls shall be rejoined (with their bodies), 7 And the little girl buried alive is asked 8 For what sin she was killed? 9 And when the books are spread, 10 the heavens are unveiled, 11 when Hell is set ablaze, 12 And when Paradise shall be brought near, 13 [then] each soul shall know what it has put forward. 14 So, I call the receding stars to witness, 15 the runners, the sinkers, 16 and sit during the day, or by the darkening night 17 And by the dawn as it brightens; 18 Verily this is the word of a most honourable Messenger, 19 with strength endowed, secure with Him who in almightiness is enthroned 20 obeyed by (all creatures) and faithful to His trust. 21 For, this fellow-man of yours is not a madman: 22 in truth he saw him (Gabriel) on the clear horizon, 23 he is not niggardly of the Unseen. 24 Nor is it the word of a satan accursed. 25 So where are you going? 26 This is naught but an admonition unto the worlds 27 to everyone of you who wills to walk a straight way. 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Lord of the Universe, so wills it [to show you that way]. 29
