The Moon (Al-Qamar)
55 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Comet (Al-Taareq) before S (Saad)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
The hour drew nigh and the moon did rend asunder. 1 And if they see a miracle they turn aside and say: Transient magic. 2 They reject (the warning) and follow their (own) lusts but every matter has its appointed time. 3 And assuredly there hath come unto them tidings wherein is a deterrent. 4 Consummate wisdom-- but warnings do not avail; 5 So leave them, [O Muhammad]. The Day the Caller calls to something forbidding, 6 They will come forth,- their eyes humbled - from (their) graves, (torpid) like locusts scattered abroad, 7 Hastening, with eyes transfixed, towards the Caller!- "Hard is this Day!", the Unbelievers will say. 8 ۞ [LONG] BEFORE those [who now deny resurrection] did Noah's people call it a lie; and they gave the lie to Our servant and said, "Mad is he!" - and he was repulsed. 9 And so he called unto his Lord, saying, 'I am vanquished; do Thou succour me!' 10 So We opened the gates of the cloud with water pouring 11 and caused the earth to burst forth with springs, so that the waters met for a purpose pre-ordained: 12 but him We bore on that [vessel] made of [mere] planks and nails, 13 She floats under our eyes (and care): a recompense to one who had been rejected (with scorn)! 14 And indeed, We have left this as a sign, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)? 15 Then see how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings! 16 And in truth We have made the Qur'an easy to remember; but is there any that remembereth? 17 Ad cried lies. How then were My chastisement and My warnings? 18 We indeed sent towards them a severe windstorm, on a day the ill luck of which lasted upon them forever. 19 Sweeping men away as though they were uprooted trunks of palm-trees. 20 So how did My punishment turn out, and My warnings? 21 We have made the Quran easy to understand, but is there anyone who would pay attention? 22

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
