A company of the former peoples 39 And a numerous company from among the last. 40 And those of the left hand, how wretched are those of the left hand! 41 In scorching wind and scalding water 42 and the shadow of a smoking blaze 43 Neither cool nor refreshing. 44 Surely they were before that made to live in ease and plenty. 45 and would persist in heinous sinning, 46 And they used to say, "When we die and become dust and bones, are we indeed to be resurrected? 47 And also our forefathers?" 48 Say: "Indeed, the earlier and the later generations 49 Will all be brought together to the tryst of an appointed day. 50 Then you people who had gone astray and rejected the Truth 51 Shall surely eat of the tree of Az-Zqqum. 52 and you shall fill therewith your bellies 53 and thereupon you shall drink boiling water, 54 Drinking even as the camel drinketh. 55 This is their reception on the Day of Justice. 56 It is We Who have created you: why will ye not witness the Truth? 57 Have you considered the seed? 58 Do you create it, or We are its creator? 59 We have decreed death to you all, and We are not unable, 60 That We may transfigure you and make you what ye know not. 61 You have surely known of the first creation. Why then, will you not remember! 62 And have you seen that [seed] which you sow? 63 Is it you that cause it to grow, or are We the causers of growth? 64 Did We will, We would make it broken orts, and you would remain bitterly jesting -- 65 Verily we are undone. 66 Rather, we have been prevented' 67 Have you considered the water that you drink? 68 Is it you who cause it to descend from the clouds, or do We? 69 If We willed, surely We would make it brackish. Wherefore give ye not thanks? 70 Have you ever considered the fire which you kindle? 71 Did you make its timber to grow, or did We make it? 72 We have made it a reminder, and a blessing to the traveler. 73 (Muhammad), glorify your Lord, the Great One. 74
