He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The Prophet frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man, [interrupting]. 2 And what would make you know that he would purify himself, 3 or receive some (Quranic) advice which would benefit him. 4 As to one who regards Himself as self-sufficient, 5 Unto him thou payest regard. 6 though you will not be questioned even if he never purifies himself. 7 And as for him who cometh unto thee running, 8 And is afraid (of Allah and His Punishment), 9 You neglect. 10 By no means! Verily it is an admonition. 11 and whosoever wills, shall remember it. 12 upon highly honored pages, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 noble and virtuous scribes. 16 Accursed be man! How stubbornly he denies the Truth. 17 Out of what did Allah create him? 18 From a sperm-drop He created him and destined for him; 19 then eased his path for him, 20 Then causeth him to die, and burieth him; 21 and then, whenever He wishes, He will raise him back to life. 22 Indeed, he has not fulfilled that which He has ordered him. 23 Then let man look at his food, (and how We provide it): 24 We poured out the rains abundantly, 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 to yield therein corn, 27 And grapes and clover, 28 and olives, and palms, 29 and dense-tree'd gardens, 30 and fruits and pastures – 31 an enjoyment for you and your flocks. 32 But when there comes the Deafening Blast 33 Man will fly from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 his consort, his sons, 36 Everyone on that Day will have affairs to keep him occupied. 37 Some faces on that Day shall be beaming with happiness, 38 and be cheerful and joyous. 39 And [other] faces, that Day, will have upon them dust. 40 Veiled in darkness, 41 These will be the unbelievers, the wicked. 42
