Smoke (Al-Dukhaan)
59 verses, revealed in Mecca after Vanity (Al-Zukhruf) before Kneeling (Al-Jaatheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Ha-Mim. 1 By the Scripture that maketh plain 2 We have sent it down in a blessed night (We are ever warning) 3 Whereon every wise command is made clear 4 As a command from Our presence - Lo! We are ever sending - 5 as a mercy from thy Lord (surely He is the All-hearing, the All-knowing) 6 Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, if you are certain (of your faith). 7 there is no deity save Him: It is He who gives both life and death -- He is your Lord, and the Lord of your forefathers, 8 Nay, but they [who lack inner certainty] are but dying with their doubts. 9 WAIT, THEN, for the Day when the skies shall bring forth a pall of smoke which will make obvious [the approach of the Last Hour,] 10 That will envelop the people. This will be a painful torment. 11 (They will say:) "Our Lord! remove the Penalty from us, for we do really believe!" 12 How could this punishment bring them to their senses when a Messenger evidently had come to them, 13 whereupon they turned their backs on him and said, "Taught [by others] is he, a madman"? 14 Yet We will hold the scourge back for a while, (but no sooner than We will do so) you will revert to your old ways. 15 On the day when We will seize (them) with the most violent seizing; surely We will inflict retribution. 16 ۞ And assuredly afore them We proved Fir'awn's people, and there came unto them an apostle honoured. 17 Saying: Deliver to me the servants of Allah, surely I am a faithful apostle to you, 18 And saying exalt not yourselves against Allah; verily I have come unto you with an authority manifest. 19 I have sought refuge with my Lord and your Lord lest you stone me [to death]. 20 If you do not believe in me, leave me alone." 21 Moses addressed his Lord, saying, "Lord, these people are sinners". 22 [Allah said], "Then set out with My servants by night. Indeed, you are to be pursued. 23 And leave the sea in stillness. Indeed, they are an army to be drowned." 24 How many gardens did they leave behind, and how many fountains 25 corn-fields, gracious mansions, 26 And the delights which they had been enjoying! 27 Thus it was; and We passed them on to another people. 28 Neither heaven nor earth shed tears for them; nor were they respited, 29

Notes and Instructions
قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
