Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
HA MIM. 1 CONSIDER this divine writ, clear in itself and clearly showing the truth: 2 We have made it an Arabic Koran in order that you understand. 3 And verily it is, in the Original Book before Us, indeed exalted. 4 Shall We then take away the Message from you and repel (you), for that ye are a people transgressing beyond bounds? 5 How many Messengers did We send to the ancient people? 6 But there would not come to them a prophet except that they used to ridicule him. 7 Wherefore We destroyed peoples mightier than these in prowess; and there hath gone forth the example of the ancients. 8 And if thou (Muhammad) ask them: Who created the heavens and the earth, they will surely answer: The Mighty, the Knower created them; 9 He who made the earth a bed for you, and laid out tracks upon it so that you may find the way; 10 And Who sendeth down from the heaven water in measure; then We quicken a dead land therewith: even so ye shall be brought forth. 11 And, (it is He) who has created all the pairs and appointed for you ships and the cattle on which you ride, 12 That you may settle yourselves upon their backs and then remember the favor of your Lord when you have settled upon them and say. "Exalted is He who has subjected this to us, and we could not have [otherwise] subdued it. 13 Hence, verily, it is unto Him that we must always turn." 14 The pagans have considered some of His servants as His children. There is no doubt that the human being is simply ungrateful. 15
