(vii) Do not kill your children for fear of want. We will provide for them and for you. Surely killing them is a great sin. 31 And do not approach adultery – it is indeed a shameful deed; and a very evil way. 32 Nor take life - which Allah has made sacred - except for just cause. And if anyone is slain wrongfully, we have given his heir authority (to demand qisas or to forgive): but let him not exceed bounds in the matter of taking life; for he is helped (by the Law). 33 And draw not near to the property of the orphan except in a goodly way till he attains his maturity and fulfill the promise; surely (every) promise shall be questioned about. 34 Give full measure when you are measuring, and weigh on a balanced scale. This is better, and excellent its consequence. 35 (xiii) Do not follow that of which you have no knowledge. Surely the hearing, the sight, the heart - each of these shall be called to account. 36 And do not walk haughtily on the earth; you can never split the earth, nor be as high as the hills. 37 All the bad aspects of these (the above mentioned things) are hateful to your Lord. 38 This is some of the wisdom your Lord has revealed to you. So do not take another god apart from God, or you will be cast into Hell, reproved, ostracised. 39 What, has your Lord favoured you with sons and taken to Himself from the angels females? Surely it is a monstrous thing you are saying! 40
