The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When heaven is rent asunder 1 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 And casts forth what is in it and becomes empty, 4 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord,- and it must needs (do so);- (then will come Home the full reality). 5 O man, you have to strive and go on striving towards your Lord, then will you meet Him. 6 Then, as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand, 7 His account shall presently be taken by an easy reckoning. 8 And return to his people in happiness. 9 And as to him who is given his book behind his back, 10 Soon will he cry for perdition, 11 and roast at the Blaze. 12 Verily he was among his people joyous. 13 and surely thought he would never return (to his Lord). 14 Yes indeed, his Lord was ever watching him. 15 I swear by the twilight; 16 And by the night and whatever it gathers in its darkness; 17 And by the moon when it is at the full, 18 you shall surely ride stage after stage. 19 What is the matter with them, that they do not believe 20 And, when the Qur'an is recited unto them, worship not (Allah)? ۩ 21 No, the unbelievers only belie, 22 And Allah well knows what they conceal in their hearts. 23 Therefore give them the glad tidings of a painful punishment. 24 But for those who believe and do good works; for them there shall be a never-ending reward. 25
