The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has there come on man a while of time when he was a thing unremembered? 1 Verily, it is We who have created man out of a drop of sperm intermingled, so that We might try him [in his later life]: and therefore We made him a being endowed with hearing and sight. 2 Surely We guided him upon the way whether he be thankful or unthankful. 3 [Now,] behold, for those who deny the truth We have readied chains and shackles, and a blazing flame 4 Verily the pious shall drink of a cup whereof the admixture is like unto camphor. 5 a fountain whereat drink the servants of God, making it to gush forth plenteously. 6 They [are those who] fulfill [their] vows and fear a Day whose evil will be widespread. 7 And out of His love, they give food to the needy, the orphan and the prisoner. 8 'We feed you only for the Face of God; we desire no recompense from you, no thankfulness; 9 we fear from our Lord a Day that shall be long and distressful.” 10 God will certainly rescue them from the terror of that day and will meet them with joy and pleasure. 11 And gave them Paradise and silk clothes, as a reward for their patience. 12 There they will recline on elevated couches and will be subjected neither to the burning heat of the sun nor to bitter cold. 13 since its [blissful] shades will come down low over them, and low will hang down its clusters of fruit, most easy to reach. 14 And there shall be made to go round about them vessels of silver and goblets which are of glass, 15 goblets bright as crystal but made of silver, filled to exact measure. 16 And in that [paradise] they will be given to drink of a cup flavoured with ginger, 17 [derived from] a source [to be found] therein, whose name is "Seek Thy Way". 18 ۞ And there shall go round unto them youths ever-young. When thou seest them thou wouldst deem them pearls unstrung. 19 When thou seest, thou wilt see there bliss and high estate. 20 Upon the inhabitants will be green garments of fine silk and brocade. And they will be adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord will give them a purifying drink. 21 Surely this is a reward for you, and your striving shall be recompensed. 22
