The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Of what ask they? 1 Is it about the awesome tiding 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 Nay, they will come to know! 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Did We not make the earth a spreading, 6 and fixed the mountains like pegs, 7 And We created you in pairs 8 And have appointed your sleep for repose, 9 And made the night as clothing 10 And made the day for livelihood 11 Have We not made seven strong heavens above you, 12 and placed therein a hot, shining lamp, 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 Verily, the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 the Day when the trumpet [of resurrection] is sounded and you all come forward in multitudes; 18 and heaven is opened, having gates, 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 [On that Day,] verily, hell will lie in wait [for those who deny the truth] 21 For the exorbitant a receptacle. 22 They will tarry therein for ages. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink, 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 Reward proportioned (to their evil deeds). 26 Behold, they were not expecting to be called to account, 27 and roundly denied Our Signs as false. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment. 30
