Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Has the news of the overwhelming event reached you? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated, 2 Labouring, striving hard. 3 Scorched by burning fire, 4 They will be given drink from a boiling spring. 5 They shall have no food but of thorns, 6 that will neither nourish nor satisfy their hunger. 7 Many a face will be in serenity on that day. 8 well-pleased with their striving. 9 In a high Garden. 10 In which they will not hear any lewd speech. 11 Countless springs will flow therein, 12 In which are high thrones. 13 And cups put in place 14 well-placed cushions, 15 And silken carpets spread. 16 So do they not see the camel – how it has been created? 17 And the heaven – how it has been raised? 18 And the mountains – how they have been established? 19 how the earth was outstretched? 20 Therefore advise; indeed you are a proclaimer of advice. (The Holy Prophet is a Remembrance from Allah.) 21 and are not invested with the authority to compel them. 22 But if any turn away and reject Allah,- 23 God will punish them with the greatest torment. 24 Surely to Us is their turning back, 25 and verily, It is for Us to call them to account. 26
