The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 and obeys its Lord as it must, 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 and throws out of itself all that it contains 4 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord,- and it must needs (do so);- (then will come Home the full reality). 5 O man, you are striving unto your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 he will in time be called to account with an easy accounting, 8 and will return rejoicing to his family. 9 And as to him who shall be given his book from behind his back 10 Soon he will pray for death. 11 but he will enter the blazing flame. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 This is a fact. Their Lord is Well-Aware of (all that they do). 15 So I swear by the afterglow of sunset; 16 And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, 17 And by the moon when she is at the full, 18 that you will certainly pass through one stage after another. 19 What aileth them, then, that they believe not 20 and when the Koran is recited to them that they do not prostrate! ۩ 21 Indeed, those who are bent on denying the truth reject it -- 22 but God knows best whatever they accumulate in their hearts. 23 Therefore, give them the news of a painful punishment. 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
