The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Of what do they question one another? 1 About the awesome tiding [of resurrection,] 2 About which they have been differing? 3 Nay, but they will come to know! 4 Nay, again, but they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a bed, 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs, 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 And have made the night as a covering (through its darkness), 10 and made the day for earning a livelihood. 11 We raised over you several secure (skies), 12 And have made (therein) a shinning lamp (sun). 13 And then sent down hard rain from the water bearing clouds. 14 That We may produce from it grain and vegetation, 15 and thick gardens grow? 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 The day the trumpet blast is sounded you will come in hordes; 18 And the heaven will have been opened, and it will have become doors. 19 And the mountains will have been removed away, and they will have become as mirage. 20 [On that Day,] verily, hell will lie in wait [for those who deny the truth] 21 The rebels' abode, 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 They shall not taste therein cool nor drink 24 Except boiling water, and dirty wound discharges. 25 Requital corresponding. 26 for they never expected to be called to account, 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did]. 29 'Taste! We shall increase you not save in chastisement.' 30

كيف تعمل منظومة تمارين الحفظ؟ عند أدنى مستوى 0، تكون كل الكلمات ظاهرة. بينما يُخفي أعلى مستوى 9 كل الكلمات. فكيف تعمل المستويات المتوسطة، مثل 3، على سبيل المثال؟ قد تعتقد بأن المنظومة تخفي 3 من كل تسع كلمات بدقة. ليس تماما! في المستوى 3، لكل كلمة فرصة اختفاء بنسبة 3 من 9، و6 من 9 لتكون ظاهرة. بمعنى آخر، من الممكن، ولكن باحتمال شبة معدوم، أن تكون جميع كلمات المستوى 3 مخفية، أو أن تكون جميعها ظاهرة! وكذلك أيضًا، ففي المستويات المتوسطة، وبما يتناسب مع مستوى الصعوبة، يمكن أن تكون المخابئ غير كاملة أو شفافة جزئيًا بحيث تظهر الكلمات جزئيًا تحتها.
How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
