And make mention (O Muhammad) of Our bondman Job, when he cried unto his Lord (saying): Lo! the devil doth afflict me with distress and torment. 41 We said to him, “Strike the earth with your foot; this cool spring is for bathing and drinking.” (A spring gushed forth when he struck the earth – this was a miracle.) 42 We restored his family to him, doubling their number as an act of grace from Us, and as a reminder to all who are endowed with insight. 43 and, 'Take in thy hand a bundle of rushes, and strike therewith, and do not fail in thy oath.' Surely We found him a steadfast man. How excellent a servant he was! He was a penitent. 44 And commemorate Our Servants Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, possessors of Power and Vision. 45 Assuredly We purified them with a quality most pure, the remembrance of the Abode, 46 and in Our sight they are of the chosen, the excellent. 47 And remember Ishmael, Elisha and Dhu'l-Kifl. Every one of them is among the best. 48 This is a commemoration. Surely for those who take heed for themselves is an excellent place of return -- 49 Gardens of Eden, whereof the gates are opened for them, 50 They will be resting therein and will be able to ask for many kinds of fruit and drink. 51 ۞ and wherein there shall be with them well-matched, bashful mates. 52 Such is the Promise made, to you for the Day of Account! 53 this is Our unending provision' 54 All of this; but, for the proud there is an ill return. 55 they will burn, in Hell, an evil resting place -- 56 This - let them taste it: scalding water and corruption. 57 And other (punishment) of the same kind-- of various sorts. 58 (We shall say to their leaders): 'This is a troop rushing in with you, there is no welcome for them, they shall roast in the Fire' 59 (The followers of the misleaders will say): "Nay, you (too)! No welcome for you! It is you (misleaders) who brought this upon us (because you misled us in the world), so evil is this place to stay in!" 60 They will say: "Our Lord! Whoever brought this upon us, add to him a double torment in the Fire!" 61 And they will say, "How is it that we do not see [here any of the] men whom we used to count among the wicked, 62 [and] whom we made the target of our derision? Or is it that [they are here, and] our eyes have missed them?" 63 Surely that is true -- the disputing of the inhabitants of the Fire. 64
