Nay, by the moon, 32 And by the night when it withdraws, 33 By the morning when it brighteneth. 34 Surely, it is one of the gravest things, 35 A warning for people -- 36 Unto him of you who will advance or hang back. 37 Every soul is held in pledge against its own deeds, 38 Except the people of the right hand, 39 In Gardens (Paradise) they will ask one another, 40 and will ask of the criminals, 41 "What has brought you into hell-fire?" 42 and they shall reply, "We were not among those who prayed; 43 Nor did we feed the wretched. 44 "And we used to talk falsehood (all that which Allah hated) with vain talkers. 45 "And we used to deny the Day of Judgment, 46 until the inevitable event overtook us.” 47 So, the intercession of intercessors will not avail them. 48 What is the matter with them that they turn away from this Reminder, 49 As though they were frightened asses 50 Fleeing from a lion? 51 Nay, but everyone of them desireth that he should be given open pages (from Allah). 52 Never! In fact they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 There is no doubt that the Quran is a guide. 54 So, whoever wills, will remember it. 55 And they will not remember except that Allah wills. He is worthy of fear and adequate for [granting] forgiveness. 56
