Elucidated (Fussilat)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Ha-Mim. [These letters are one of the miracles of the Quran, and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings.] 1 THE BESTOWAL from on high [of this revelation] issues from the Most Gracious, the Dispenser of Grace: 2 A Book whose signs have been distinguished as an Arabic Koran for a people having knowledge, 3 It bears glad tidings and a warning, yet most of them turn away and do not listen. 4 And they say, "Our hearts are encased against that to which you call us, and there is a heaviness in our ears, and there is a barrier between us, so do as you will and so shall we." 5 Say, "I am only a human being like yourselves. It has been revealed to me that your God is One God. So take the straight path to Him and ask His forgiveness." Woe to those who associate others with Him, 6 Those who practise not regular Charity, and who even deny the Hereafter. 7 Verily those who believe and work righteous works - unto them shall be a hire unceasing. 8
