The tribe of Thamud also rejected Our warnings: 23 saying: “Are we to follow a single mortal, one from among ourselves? If we do that, we shall surely be in error and folly. 24 Was he the one of all of us to have been given the exposition? He is surely an impudent liar." 25 They will know tomorrow who is the insolent liar. 26 for We are [going to] send the she-camel as a trial for them, so watch them and be patient. 27 And tell them that the water is to be divided between them: Each one's right to drink being brought forward (by suitable turns). 28 But they called their companion who took hold of her and hamstrung her. 29 Then, how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? 30 Then We sent a single blast against them and they became like dry stubble which has been trampled upon. 31 We made the Quran easy to understand, but is there anyone who would take heed? 32 The people of Lot rejected Our warning. 33 Lo! We sent a storm of stones upon them (all) save the family of Lot, whom We rescued in the last watch of the night, 34 as a blessing from Us: thus do We reward all who are grateful. 35 Lot warned them of Our punishment, but they disputed the warnings -- 36 And they had demanded from him his guests, but We obliterated their eyes, [saying], "Taste My punishment and warning." 37 And verily, an abiding torment seized them early in the morning. 38 "Taste My punishment now that you have scorned My warnings!" 39 Now We have made the Koran easy for Remembrance.
