In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
I CALL TO WITNESS those who are sent consecutively, 1 storming tempestuously 2 And by the winds that scatter clouds and rain; 3 thus separating [right and wrong] with all clarity, 4 And those winds that bring down the remembrance. 5 to provide excuses for some and to give warnings to others: 6 Surely that which ye are promised will befall. 7 So when the stars are obliterated 8 when heaven shall be split 9 And when the mountains are carried away by wind. 10 And when the apostles are collected at the appointed time, 11 To what day is the doom fixed? 12 For the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false]! 13 What will explain to you what the Day of Judgement is? 14 Woe, that Day, to the deniers. 15 Destroyed We not the former folk, 16 We shall then send the latter after them. 17 As such shall We deal with the sinners. 18 Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth! 19 Did We not create you from a liquid disdained? 20 which We then let remain in [the womb's] firm keeping 21 For a period (of gestation), determined (according to need)? 22 We determined; excellent determiners are We. 23 Woe, that Day, to the deniers. 24 Have We not caused the earth to hold within itself 25 for both the living and the dead? 26 And placed in it lofty and broad stablisers, and gave you sweet water to drink? 27 Woe on that Day to those that give the lie to the Truth! 28 Depart to that which you belied! 29 Proceed to a shadow [of smoke] having three columns 30 (Which yet is) no relief nor shelter from the flame. 31 The fire will shoot out sparks as big as huge towers 32 As if they were yellowish [black] camels. 33 Alas the woe that day for those who deny! 34 They will not be able to speak that day, 35 neither be given leave, and excuse themselves. 36 Woe unto the repudiators on that day! 37 This is the Day of Decision, We have assembled both ye and the ancients. 38 So if you have any ploy, try it against Me! 39 Woe on that Day to those that give the lie to the Truth! 40
