The Moon (Al-Qamar)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
The Hour has come near, and the moon has split [in two]. 1 But if they see a sign they turn away, and say: "This is the same old lie continuing," 2 They also gave the lie to (the splitting asunder of the moon) and only followed their desires. Yet everything is destined to reach an end. 3 There have already come to them Recitals wherein there is (enough) to check (them), 4 a Wisdom far-reaching; yet warnings do not avail. 5 So turn (your) back on them (for) the day when the inviter shall invite them to a hard task, 6 They will come out from the graves with eyes lowered, as if they were spread locusts. 7 These disbelievers will say, "This is a hard day". 8 ۞ (Long) before them the nation of Noah belied. They belied Our worshiper saying: 'Mad' and he was reprimanded. 9 Therefore he called upon his Lord: I am overcome, come Thou then to help. 10 We opened the Gates of Heaven with torrential water 11 and made the earth to gush with fountains, and the waters met for a matter decreed. 12 We bore him on an [ark] which, made of planks and nails, 13 Floating under Our Eyes, a reward for him who had been rejected! 14 And verily We left it as a token; but is there any that remembereth? 15 How was then My punishment and My commination! 16 We have made the Koran easy to remember, is there any that will remember! 17 Ad treated (the truth) as a lie, so how (great) was My punishment and My warning! 18 Surely We sent on them a tornado in a day of bitter ill-luck 19 Extracting the people as if they were trunks of palm trees uprooted. 20 Yea, how (terrible) was My Penalty and My Warning! 21 And We have indeed made the Qur’an easy to memorise, so is there one who would remember? 22
