The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
O you (Prophet Muhamad), the cloaked, 1 Arise and warn! 2 And thine Lord magnify! 3 And your clothing purify 4 And uncleanness do shun, 5 Nor expect, in giving, any increase (for thyself)! 6 For the sake of thy Lord, be patient! 7 When the Horn is blown, 8 that very Day shall be a day of anguish, 9 Far from easy for the disbelievers. 10 Leave Me with him whom I created alone, 11 and to whom I have granted resources in abundance, 12 and sons standing before him, 13 And spread [everything] before him, easing [his life]. 14 Yet is he greedy-that I should add (yet more);- 15 Nay! For lo! he hath been stubborn to Our revelations. 16 I shall soon constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 He reflected, and then determined 18 (Self-)destroyed is he, how he planned! 19 And once more let him be cursed, how he plotted! 20 He then dared to lift his gaze. 21 Then frowned he and scowled. 22 Then he turned back and was big with pride, 23 He said, 'This is naught but a trumped-up sorcery; 24 Naught is this but the word of Man. 25 I shall surely roast him in Sakar; 26 And what will explain to thee what Hell-Fire is? 27 It spares not, neither leaves alone 28 scorching the flesh; 29 over it are nineteen. 30 We have appointed none but angels to guard the Fire, and made their number only as a trial for the unbelievers, so that those to whom the Book was given are certain and those who believe increase in belief. And that those who were given the Book, and those who believe will not be in doubt. And that those in whose hearts there is a sickness, together with the unbelievers, may say: 'What did Allah intend by this as an example' As such, Allah leaves in error whom He will and He guides whomsoever He will. None knows the hosts of your Lord except He. This is no more than a Reminder to humans. 31
