The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the forthcoming event does occur. 1 and there can be no denying its happening, 2 (it will) abase (some) and exalt (others). 3 When the earth is shaken 4 and the mountains crumbled 5 becoming scattered dust, 6 [on that Day,] then, shall you be [divided into] three kinds. 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 The people of the left hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their left hands. How miserable they will be! 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 These will be those Nearest to Allah: 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 A [large] company of the former peoples 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness), 17 with goblets and ewers and a cup filled with a drink drawn from a running spring, 18 Unheady, uninebriating; 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 Like unto preserved pearls. 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 Therein they hear no vain or sinful discourse. 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 They shall be in the midst of thornless lote trees, 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 and extended shade, 30 And water poured out 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 Neither out of reach nor yet forbidden, 33 and upraised couches. 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 Loving, equals in age, 37 For those on the Right Hand. 38
