Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Hast thou received the story of the Enveloper? 1 On that day (many) faces will be downcast, 2 Working [hard] and exhausted. 3 They will suffer the heat of the blazing fire 4 Drinking from a boiling spring, 5 For them there will be no food except from a poisonous, thorny plant 6 unfattening, unappeasing hunger. 7 Many faces will be joyous on that day, 8 Rejoicing over their efforts. 9 In a high Garden 10 wherein thou wilt hear no empty talk. 11 In it is a flowing spring. 12 Wherein are couches raised 13 and goblets set at hand, 14 and arranged cushions 15 and carpets outspread. 16 What, do they not consider how the camel was created, 17 how the heavens are raised up high, 18 And at the Mountains, how they are fixed firm?- 19 And the earth, how it is made a vast expanse? 20 Therefore do thou give admonition, for thou art one to admonish. 21 and are not invested with the authority to compel them. 22 Save the one who turns away and disbelieves 23 Allah will chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 To Us is surely their returning; 25 Then surely upon Us is the taking of their account. 26
