▼ 52 The Mountain
Al-Toor 2 of 2
Wherefore admonish thou! thou art not, by the grace of thy Lord, a soothsayer or a madman. 29 Or do they say: “He is a poet for whom we await an adverse turn of fortune.” 30 Proclaim, “Go on waiting – I too am waiting along with you.” 31 Do their minds command them to do this, or are they an outrageous folk? 32 Do they say: “He has himself fabricated the Qur'an?” No; the truth is that they are altogether averse to believing. 33 Let them then produce a recital like unto it,- If (it be) they speak the truth! 34 Or were they created without there being anything, or are they the creators? 35 Or is it they who created the heavens and the earth? No; the truth is that they lack sure faith. 36 Or are the Treasures of thy Lord with them, or are they the managers (of affairs)? 37 Or have they a stairway [into the heaven] upon which they listen? Then let their listener produce a clear authority. 38 Or has He only daughters and ye have sons? 39 Or is it that thou dost ask for a reward, so that they are burdened with a load of debt?- 40 Or is the hidden with them, by which they pass judgements? 41 Do they design evil plans? The disbelievers themselves will be snared by their evil plots. 42 Do they have another god besides God? God is too exalted to be considered equal to the idols. 43 Were they to see a piece of the sky falling (on them), they would (only) say: "Clouds gathered in heaps!" 44 Leave them then till they meet that day of theirs wherein they shall be made to swoon (with terror): 45 The day on which their struggle shall not avail them aught, nor shall they be helped. 46 And verily for those who do wrong there is a torment before that; but most of them know not. 47 And be thou patient under the judgment of thy Lord; surely thou art before Our eyes. And proclaim the praise of thy Lord when thou arisest, 48 And in the night, give Him glory too, and at the setting of the stars. 49

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
