The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sun shall be darkened, 1 And when the stars shall dart down, 2 And when the mountains shall be made to pass away, 3 and when she-camels big with young, about to give birth, are left untended, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together, 5 when the seas are set boiling, 6 when the souls are divided into different classes, 7 And when the girl-child who was buried alive is asked. 8 For what sin she was killed 9 And when the Records of Account are laid bare. 10 When the world on High is unveiled; 11 And when hell is further enflamed. 12 And when the Garden is brought nigh, 13 [then] each soul shall know what it has put forward. 14 But nay! I swear by the stars, 15 Moving swiftly and hiding themselves, 16 by the night when it approaches 17 And by oath of the morning when it takes birth. 18 That this is indeed the word of an honoured Messenger, 19 Endued with Power, with rank before the Lord of the Throne, 20 The one who is obeyed, and trustworthy. (Other angels obey angel Jibreel). 21 (O people of Makkah), your companion is not mad; 22 he truly beheld him [the angel] on the clear horizon. 23 And he is of the unseen not a tenacious concealer. 24 And it (the Quran) is not the word of the outcast Shaitan (Satan). 25 where then are you going? 26 This is naught but an admonition unto the worlds 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 but will you shall not, unless God wills, the Lord of all Being. 29
