The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the event befalleth - 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 some shall be abased and others exalted. 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 So they will become like fine dust, scattered in a shaft of light. 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 The people of the left hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their left hands. How miserable they will be! 9 And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter). 10 Who will be honoured 11 in the Gardens of Delight 12 a host of the ancients 13 but [only] a few of later times. 14 Seated on couches wrought in gold and encrusted with precious stones, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Youths of never-ending bloom will pass round to them 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 (no brows throbbing, no intoxication) 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire. 21 and wide-eyed houris 22 as the likeness of hidden pearls, 23 [And this will be] a reward for what they did [in life]. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 Other than "Peace, peace" the salutation. 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 They shall be in the midst of thornless lote trees, 28 and clustered bananas, 29 In shade long-extended, 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 And fruits numberless, 32 unfailing, unforbidden, 33 and raised couches 34 Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth, 35 And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), - 36 Beloved (by nature), equal in age,- 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
