Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ OH, THE LAYING-BARE of the truth! 1 What is the Inevitable Calamity? 2 Ah, what will convey unto thee what the reality is! 3 Thamood and Ad cried lies to the Clatterer. 4 So regarding the Thamud, they were destroyed by a terrible scream. 5 And the 'Ad were destroyed by the furious cold blast of roaring wind 6 which He let loose upon them for seven nights and eight days in succession; so that (if you had been there) you might have seen people lying prostrate, as though they were uprooted trunks of hollowed palm trees. 7 Can you see any of their survivors? 8 And Firon and those before him and the overthrown cities continuously committed sins. 9 And they disobeyed the messenger of their Lord, so He seized them with a seizure exceeding [in severity]. 10 [And] behold: when the waters [of Noah's flood] burst beyond all limits, it was We who caused you to be borne [to safety] in that floating ark, 11 so that We might make it an instructive event for you, and retentive ears might preserve its memory. 12 When a single blow is blown on the Horn, 13 And the earth and the mountains are borne away and crushed with a single crushing. 14 On that Day shall the (Great) Event come to pass. 15 and the heavens will be rent asunder, 16 and the angels shall stand upon its borders, and upon that day eight shall carry above them the Throne of thy Lord. 17 On that day you shall be exposed to view-- no secret of yours shall remain hidden. 18 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, he will say: Lo! read my book: 19 Indeed, I was certain that I would be meeting my account." 20 So he shall be in a pleasing life 21 In a Garden on high, 22 The fruits of which are near at hand: 23 (And told:) "Eat and drink to your fill as reward for (good) deeds you had done in days of yore." 24 But as for him who will be given his Record in his left hand, will say: "I wish that I had not been given my Record! 25 and neither known this my account! 26 Oh, would that this [death of mine] had been the end of me! 27 Our wealth is of no benefit to us 28 I am bereft of power." 29 (A command will be issued): “Seize him and shackle him, 30 Then cast him to be burnt in Hell; 31 and then thrust him into a chain [of other sinners like him - a chain] the length whereof is seventy cubits: 32 for, behold, he did not believe in God, the Tremendous, 33 Nor did he urge the feeding of the poor. 34 therefore he today has not here one loyal friend, 35 Nor any food save filthy corruption. 36 "Which none do eat but those in sin." 37
