Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection 1 No! I swear by the reproachful soul! 2 What, does the human think We shall never gather his bones? 3 Yea, verily. We are Able to restore his very fingers! 4 None the less man chooses to deny what lies ahead of him, 5 He asks: “When will the Day of Resurrection be?” 6 But when sight is confounded 7 and the moon is eclipsed, 8 and the sun and the moon are joined together, 9 Man shall say on that day: Whither to fly to? 10 By no means! there shall be no place of refuge! 11 On that day, the station is only towards your Lord. 12 On that Day man will be informed of what he sent forward (of his evil or good deeds), and what he left behind (of his good or evil traditions). 13 Nay! Man will be a witness against himself [as his body parts (skin, hands, legs, etc.) will speak about his deeds]. 14 Though he puts forth his excuses. 15 Move not thy tongue concerning the (Qur'an) to make haste therewith. 16 Indeed, upon Us is its collection [in your heart] and [to make possible] its recitation. 17 But when We have promulgated it, follow thou its recital (as promulgated): 18 The exposition of its meaning surely rests on Us. 19 Nay! But you love the present life, 20 And leave the Hereafter. 21 On that Day there shall be radiant faces, 22 and look forward to receiving mercy from their Lord. 23 And (other) faces on that day shall be gloomy, 24 dreading some great affliction. 25 Yes indeed, when the soul will reach up to the throat. 26 and it is said: “Is there any enchanter who can step forward and help (by his chanting)?” 27 and when he thinks it is the time of departure 28 And the leg is wound about the leg, 29 On that Day you will be driven to your Lord. 30
