The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ ABOUT WHAT do they [most often] ask one another? 1 They quarrel about the great news 2 on which they [so utterly] disagree. 3 (What they think is certainly despicable!). They will soon come to know (the reality). 4 Again, indeed, they shall know! 5 HAVE WE NOT made the earth a resting-place [for you,] 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs, 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 And have made the night as a covering (through its darkness), 10 and We appointed day for a livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven firmaments, 12 And made [therein] a burning lamp 13 From the rain clouds We send waters pouring down in abundance, 14 So that We bring forth thereby corn and vegetation. 15 And gardens of thick foliage. 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown – you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 and when the skies are opened and become [as wide-flung] gates; 19 The mountains will be driven away and become like mirages. 20 Certainly Hell lies in wait, 21 a home for the transgressors, 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 Finding neither sleep nor any thing to drink 24 save boiling water and a stinking fluid -- 25 Reward proportioned (to their evil deeds). 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 And called Our communications a lie, giving the lie (to the truth). 28 And all things We have recorded in a Book. 29 So taste (the fruit of what you sowed), for We shall add nothing but torment, 30

كيف تعمل منظومة تمارين الحفظ؟ عند أدنى مستوى 0، تكون كل الكلمات ظاهرة. بينما يُخفي أعلى مستوى 9 كل الكلمات. فكيف تعمل المستويات المتوسطة، مثل 3، على سبيل المثال؟ قد تعتقد بأن المنظومة تخفي 3 من كل تسع كلمات بدقة. ليس تماما! في المستوى 3، لكل كلمة فرصة اختفاء بنسبة 3 من 9، و6 من 9 لتكون ظاهرة. بمعنى آخر، من الممكن، ولكن باحتمال شبة معدوم، أن تكون جميع كلمات المستوى 3 مخفية، أو أن تكون جميعها ظاهرة! وكذلك أيضًا، ففي المستويات المتوسطة، وبما يتناسب مع مستوى الصعوبة، يمكن أن تكون المخابئ غير كاملة أو شفافة جزئيًا بحيث تظهر الكلمات جزئيًا تحتها.
How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
