He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned (his) back, 1 Because there came unto him a blind man. 2 And what would make you know that he would purify himself, 3 Or be admonished, and the admonition profit him? 4 As for him who was indifferent, 5 you attend to him, 6 though you are not to be blamed if he would not purify himself -- 7 And for him who came to you striving, 8 And hath fear, 9 him didst thou disregard! 10 No indeed; it is a Reminder 11 So whoever wills may remember it. 12 It is set down on honoured pages, 13 Exalted (in dignity), kept pure and holy, 14 by the hands of the noble, virtuous, 15 noble and most virtuous. 16 May (the disbelieving) human being be condemned! What makes him disbelieve? 17 Out of what did Allah create him? 18 From a sperm-drop: He hath created him, and then mouldeth him in due proportions; 19 then eased his path for him, 20 then causes him to die and buries him, 21 Then when He wills, He will resurrect him. 22 Nay, but (man) has not done what He commanded him. 23 Let man reflect on the food he eats. 24 We poured water, pouring it in great abundance, 25 Thereafter We cleave the earth in clefts, 26 how We made the grain to grow, 27 grapes, vegetables, 28 And the olive and the palm, 29 Orchards thick with trees, 30 fruits, and grass. 31 as provision for you and for your cattle to enjoy. 32 When the trumpet sounds, 33 On the Day whereon a man shall flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 And from his wife and sons. 36 on that Day, to every one of them will his own state be of sufficient concern. 37 Faces on that Day shall be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news; 39 whereas some faces will be covered with dust 40 Blackness overcoming them. 41 Such will be the Rejecters of Allah, the doers of iniquity. 42
