The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the (angels) who tear out (the souls of the wicked) with violence; 1 By the meteors rushing, 2 And those who glide swimmingly, 3 And who quickly present themselves. 4 and by those who regulate events. 5 A Day shall come whereon the quaking will quake, 6 The second blowing of the Trumpet follows it (and everybody will be raised up), 7 Hearts will pound loudly on that day, 8 and eyes will be humbly cast down. 9 They say: 'What, are we being restored as we were before, 10 After having turned to carious bones?" 11 They say: "It would, in that case, be a return with loss!" 12 But all it will take is a single blast, 13 So they will immediately be in an open plain. 14 Have you received the story of Moses? 15 When his Lord called to him in Tuwa's holy vale? 16 "Go thou to Pharaoh for he has indeed transgressed all bounds: 17 and say [unto him,] 'Art thou desirous of attaining to purity? 18 and that I should guide thee to thy Lord, then thou shalt fear?"' 19 He showed him the mighty sign, 20 But he rejected (the truth) and disobeyed. 21 and hastily turned away, 22 then he mustered 23 And proclaimed: "I (Pharaoh) am your Lord the Highest." 24 And thereupon God took him to task, [and made him] a warning example in the life to come as well as in this world. 25 surely there is in this a lesson for the God-fearing. 26
